Walk a half marathon? Yes, you can!
Even beginners can walk a half marathon!
The Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Half Marathon–in its eighth year–is a 5-star, walker-friendly event! With 4.5 hours to complete the 13.1 mile course, it is a great half marathon for beginners and first timers. For avid walkers and experienced half marathoners, there are age-group awards to vie for winning. The half is on November 4th, and here are training plans to get you started!
There will also be pace groups if you would like some camaraderie and/or have a finish-time goal.
NEW TRAINING PLANS!!!!
Start Tuesday 9/4!
For veteran walkers who’ve done events (5Ks, 10Ks, or half marathons) and want to improve their times, here’s a 2018 D&L speed plan_9wk to help you finish faster.
And for those (like me) who tend to procrastinate and haven’t started training yet, here’s a 2018 D&L_9wks for you as long as you can comfortably walk for an hour.
TRAINING PLANS IN PROGRESS
There are 12 weeks until the big day–still time to train! Here’s a 2018 D&L plan_12wk training plan for first timers who are already walking and can comfortably walk for at least an hour. And for experienced walkers, here’s a 2018 D&L speed plan_12wk for those who want a faster finish. Both plans start on Sunday, August 12th! Don’t miss out on the fun!
Here are two training plans that start with just 10 minutes of walking. The 2018 D&L beginner 20 week starts on June 17th, and the 2018 D&L beginner 18 wks starts on July 1st. Either plan is for anyone who is just starting to walk. Pick the one that works best with your schedule.
If you are already walking and can do 30 minutes at least four days a week, you can start training in mid-July with the 2018 D&L Current Walkers 16 weeks training plan.
But don’t wait to register! The event has filled up early in the past. Register here.
