13.1 miles may seem impossible now, but you can do it! And I have the perfect event for you!

The Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Half Marathon is one of the MOST walker-friendly events in the country. For five years now, they have been encouraging and welcoming walkers–of all levels–to race along with runners to experience the thrill of crossing the finish line of a half marathon!

The D&L Half has a 4.5 hour time limit (that’s a 20-minute mile pace), and there will be pace groups for walkers. Whether you’re simply looking to finish in the allotted time or hoping to set a PR, our enthusiastic pacers will help you stay on track. The fastest walkers overall and in each age group will also receive awards. And there will be training plans for all levels to help you safely build your mileage and prepare for race day.

Training plans will be posted in the spring. If you want to get started now, commit to:

  • walking at least three days a week (even if it’s just for 10-15 minutes) for the next two weeks
  • then, walking at least four days a week (even if it’s just for 15-20 minutes) for the following three weeks
  • then, walking at least five days a week (even if it’s just for 15-20 minutes) for the following four weeks
  • then, keep walking five days a week, working up to 30 minutes or longer each day

This will provide a solid foundation of fitness so you’ll be ready to train for the half come spring and summer!
