Walker Training Plans for the D&L Half Marathon
Yes, you can walk a half marathon!
The Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Half Marathon–in its seventh year–is a 5-star, walker-friendly event! With 4.5 hours to complete the 13.1 mile course, it is a great half marathon for beginners and first timers. For avid walkers and experienced half marathoners, there are age-group awards to vie for winning. The half is on November 5th, but don’t wait to register! Last year’s event filled early! There will also be pace groups if you would like some camaraderie and/or have a finish-time goal.
Here’s the beginner training plan. 2017 D&L beginner 18 wks This plan is for anyone who is just starting to walk. It begins with just 10 minutes a day. (Training started July 2nd.)
If you have been walking regularly and can go for at least 45 minutes at a time, here’s a training plan for you. 2017 D&L Current Walkers 16 weeks (Training started July 16th.)
NEW PLAN: If you want to walk faster. 2017 D&L speed plan_12wk This plan is for avid walkers who’ve done a 10K or longer event or regularly walk more than an hour at a time. (Training starts August 13th)
